Another shot taken with the Lensbaby Composer Pro, this time with the zone plate optic.

Unlike a lens, which uses refraction to focus light, a zone plate uses diffraction; it’s basically just a concentric series of light and dark rings that create the image at the focal point via constructive interference.

Zone plates give a soft focus effect with a characteristic glow. They are particularly useful because, in contrast to a pinhole, the equivalent aperture is wide enough to allow for hand-held shots.
