Jim Kasson: Staccato

Bus Stop, Washington Heights, NYC 2011

Image copyright Jim Kasson.

For his “Staccato” series Jim Kasson created a beautiful serious of images by taking numerous night-time shots from slightly different positions and then compositing them in Photoshop. The results have a fascinating painterly quality and in their complexity seem to capture the very essence of cities at night.

Especially powerful and haunting are the images which contain small, lonely figures seemingly lost in (and overwhelmed by) the tapestry of light.

Wonderful stuff and yet another piece of work where I kick myself for not thinking of doing it.
